Focus on Gratitude

“When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out, and the tide of love rushes in.” Kristin Armstrong

Gratitude is something we should all express. I thank God every morning I wake up. As the day passes and things happen to make for a good day, I thank God. It does not matter how small or large the gift; I still thank God for His blessings.

Last week I helped a friend, and she insisted on taking me to breakfast for my help. Usually, I would have said that was alright. She did not have to pay for my breakfast. However, I saw how important it was to her, and I remembered another friend telling us we must learn to accept a gift when presented because it is a reward from God.

The next day I received a proofreading assignment. It was the second request to pay me doe proofreading. That was so amazing because I had proofread for people before, but I did it for free.  It was such a liberating feeling; I felt like I was walking on cloud nine or sitting.

To round the week out, a third person asked me if I would proofread for them. It seems I am in the journaling and proofreading business.

That was last week. This week has started with me in negotiation for another proofreading assignment, and I have a new client who not only wants to journal with me but has requested my help with writing her book.

So my gratitude is bursting at the seams for the exciting things that are happening in my life. I am grateful for all that is taking place. The more grateful you are, the more you will receive. Again by focusing on the good, the disappointments we experience are forgotten.

Until next time, stay focused on the good in life, stay safe, and keep the faith.

Self Image

No one can ever see the actual image of you until you have a vivid picture of yourself.

To have an accurate image of yourself, you must be three-dimensional.

First, your identity must be complete. Your identity cannot be whole until you are in touch and freely express your feelings and thoughts.

Second, the assessment of your abilities must be realistic. It would be best to begin your evaluation by looking back at your birth’s point and time. At that point and time, you knew no restrictions. All things were possible until you began to learn limitations.

Third, the view of your worth must be complimentary. You are of immeasurable worth. However, your value is diminished by your thinking otherwise and allowing others to judge your worth. You need not and must not let the negativity of others lead you to depreciate your value.

Near-Death Experience

Today, someone asked if I remembered when I first knew God was with me. I tried to remember, but there are many times when He has shown up for me.

When I gave birth to my first son, I felt happy beyond belief. I spent three days in the hospital getting to know my son and breastfeeding him. The second at home, I had a raging fever. I was living with my mother, and she became concerned. On the fourth day home, I still had a high fever, and despite my protest, my mother insisted I go back to the hospital.

My brother-in-law brother brought my sister to spend the day with us. My mom asked him to drop us off at the hospital because she was worried about me. The nurse led me to an emergency room. It must have been about 7:30 am. I fell asleep before the doctor came to see me.

When I woke, it was 3:20  in the morning, and my mom was asleep in the chair next to my bed. The nurse came to check on me. She took my temperature and pulse rate. My mom woke, and the nurse told us I was lucky my mother made me come to the hospital when she because another day or two, and I would have died of infection from the afterbirth left in my body.

The following two or three days I spent with the nurses sitting me in tubs of ice to bring my fever down. I was never so glad as when the doctor gave me the okay to go home. My one regret, I could no longer breastfeed my son.

I am eternally grateful that the Lord spared my life. I know you are thinking, your mother made you go to the hospital. That is true, but you must remember, God often speaks to us through others. This time, He used my mother.

That is not the first time He intervened, but it was the first time I came that close to death. Since that incident, I can count on one hand the number of times I have been sick.  A gift from my Father. He has always been close, even when I was not aware.

That’s it until next time. Remember, stay safe, and keep the faith.

Follow Your Dream

People who are in control of their destiny make their own decisions. What your values in life are, form the basis of who you are. It takes a lot of self-confidence and self-belief to follow the life you want for yourself and the goals you wish to achieve.

It can be especially so when friends and family disagree with your dreams and what you want personally from your own life. Knowing your values and what will make you happy frees you from emphasizing outside influence.

You do not feel pressured to change your dream because of the opinions and expectations that other people have regarding how you live your life.

That has helped me immensely these past months. I am working on my dream, and I see the benefits of clarity, focus, self-belief, journaling, and knowing what I want. So simple, and yet so hard to do. Follow your dream.

Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.

A Great Week!

Wow! What a busy week! So much has happened this week, and it is all good. I do not have enough time to explain what has happened, but I will find some time this weekend to write about my week and share it with you.

I have share articles on confidence, motivations, goals, journaling, and clarity. It has been an enlightening journey, but the steps in those articles work. I see some beautiful things taking place very shortly.

Okay, that’s enough teasing. I am going to get some rest. Tomorrow will arrive much too soon. Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.

Joy

Yesterday I went to lunch with my Red Hat friends. We shared stories of the last year and a halfβ€”some of the ladies to gardening. I could almost smell the scent of fresh vegetables.

It was apparent Merri was proud of her gardening. She showed pictures of fresh vegetables. I looked at the pictures, and they brought back memories of my grandparents’ farm.

My mom would send me out to the garden close to the house to pull tomatoes, blackeye peas, or greens. The one thing I was not particularly eager to pick was okra. I liked the cucumbers because I could slip one or two in my pockets. I would slip off by myself, wash them, and find a nice secluded spot to eat without distractions, which meant no sharing with my siblings.

The earth always had a clean, fresh smell, which helped the cucumbers and other vegetables taste so good.

Those were happy days, and yesterday felt that way, sharing stories and reliving old memories. Yes, for me, there was plenty of joy and happiness to be with friends and gratitude that we are still here to enjoy each other company.

I am grateful every day for something in my life, and I give thanks to my Lord.

What are you grateful for in your life? Think about it and share it with us here in the comments. Until next time, stay safe, and keep the faith.
